MAFINGA District Commissioner Vivian Namwai has called on the Zambia National Service (ZNS) to help curb the illegal export of cattle into the neighbouring Malawi.
Mrs Namwai said in an interview that the country is losing out in terms of taxes because livestock farmers in the area are exporting cattle to Malawi illegally.
She said in a day, farmers export about 50 head of cattle to Malawi without obtaining export permits.
“There is a huge demand for cattle in Malawi but unfortunately, our farmers are exporting the animals illegally into that country,” Mrs Namwai said.
She said there is need to coordinate trade between the two countries so that Zambia can start earning foreign exchange http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
