ZESCO United yesterday secured a slot to the 2016 CAF Champions League group stage after edging Stade Malien in a match played before a near-empty stadium.
“I knew the team was a strong side and our game plan was to give them room and waste their own time and to utilise on their vulnerability,” Zesco coach George Lwandamina said at a post-match briefing.
The victory saw Zesco beat Malien 5-2 on aggregate after winning 3-1 in Bamako in the second round return leg on April 9.
