Zanaco reclaim top position

ZANACO yesterday reclaimed the Super Division top slot after beating Mufulira Wanderers in a scintillating rescheduled Week Eight match in Lusaka.
After Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Nkana, Zanaco were made to dig deeper as Wanderers staged a second half scare.
Zanaco have 21 points, one better than Zesco United, who have a game in hand.
Wanderers’ Moses Nyambe and Mike Katuba fluffed scoring opportunities in the second and 13 minutes respectively.
Augustine Mulenga put Zanaco in front on 44 minutes after pouncing on defender Warren Kunda’s lapse.
Two minutes later, Kunda put the ball into his net in an attempt to clear Mulenga’s shot.
After a half time pep talk by coach Manfred Chabinga, ‘Mighty’ Wanderers took the game to Zanaco and Moses Lulozi scored from a penalty on 52 minutes after Zanaco skipper Ziyo Tembo hacked Katiba.
The glamorous side levelled on the hour mark with Taonga Bwembya’s shot from a free kick beating goalkeeper Allan Chibwe.
Zanaco ensured maximum points in the 88th minute when Mathews Macha headed in Roderick Kabwe cross past goalkeeper Joshua Nyongo.
Green Buffaloes moved to fifth position on the log after overcoming struggling Napsa Stars in a rescheduled Week Eight encounter at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka, ROBINSON KUNDA reports.
Buffaloes opened the scoring in the third minute with Diamond Chikwekwe tapping in a pass from Percy Billiot and Timothy Mbewe doubled the advantage in the 50th minute after Napsa goalkeeper Philip Banda spilled Sebastian Mwansa’s free kick.
Buffaloes have 14 points at par with Wanderers but the soldiers have a better goal aggregate. Napsa are lying second from bottom with seven points.
