Zambia to get back Broken Hill Man skull

BROKEN Hill Man Skull.

MINISTRY of Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela has said Government will pursue and bring back the Broken Hill Man skull that was taken away from Zambia by the colonial masters as a measure to grow tourism.Speaking at the David Livingstone Heritage Site in Chitambo district he visited as part of his tour of the Northern Tourism Circuit, Dr Sikwela said Zambia is in a hurry to develop tourism and should, therefore, benefit from the tourists’ visits to the skull, just like the United Kingdom (UK) has enjoyed over the years.
“There has been significant progress in the effort to bring back heritage treasure following recent visit to Paris, France, where I attended the Intergovernmental Committee for Promoting the Return of Cultural Property to Countries of Origin or Restitution in Case of Illicit Appropriation (ICPRCP),” he said.
