Zambia sees growth in aquaculture

Fish Farming

ZAMBIA has in the recent years witnessed growth in the aquaculture sector as the country works towards narrowing the fish deficit triggered by the depleting fish in the water bodies.
With capture fishery, which is the fishing in lakes and rivers, being between 80,000 tonnes and 90,000 tonnes since 2009, it means that the country has to import to meet the annual deficit of about 87,000 tonnes.
It is for this reason that the development of aquaculture has received attention from Government and the private sector.
