‘Zambia needs more open, distance courses’

MINISTER of Higher Education Michael Kaingu has called on higher learning institutions to introduce more open and distance courses to contribute to empowerment of Zambians as well as social and economic development of the country.
Dr Kaingu said the introduction of open and distance courses will increase enrolment levels of students in higher learning institutions in Zambia.
The minister said this in Lusaka on Friday night in a speech read for him by permanent secretary in the Ministry of Higher Education Owen Zulu.
This was during the launch of new courses introduced by Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce under the open, distance and flexible learning (ODFL).
Some of the courses introduced include the Secondary Teachers’ Diploma and Library and Information Science Diploma.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
