‘Zambia has capacity to meet cigarrete demand’

GOVERNMENT has been urged to consider banning importation of cigarettes because the country has the capacity to meet the local demand.
Roland Imperial Tobacco company general manager manufacturing division Aliport Ngoma said imposing a ban on importation is the only way to control the scourge of illicit cigarettes.
Mr Ngoma said investments in tobacco processing should be encouraged to simulate tobacco growing and value addition in the country.
He was speaking during the commemoration of the World Tobacco Growers’ Day yesterday under the theme “Tobacco the misunderstood crop http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
