ZAMBIA were yesterday taught a rugby lesson by Algeria in an Africa Silver Cup final but still qualified for the Gold Cup.
Africa Rugby president Abdoulaziz Bougla announced immediately after the match that both Algeria and Zambia have progressed to the Gold Cup following the increase in teams from six to eight.
“I have good news for Zambia. You have qualified to the Gold Cup. We have increased the number of teams from six to eight,” said Bougla amid cheers from the Zambian team, who thought they had missed on qualification.
The defeat also ended Zambia’s three-match unbeaten run under coach Lawrence Njovu.
