Zambezi water too dirty for Chirundu

NANCY SIAME and CHOMBA MUSIKA, Lusaka
THE Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) has suspended water supply to Chirundu due to high contamination levels in the Zambezi River which has made treatment virtually impossible.
The water supplier says efforts to treat the precious resource have been hampered by high turbidity levels.
Turbidity is the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid caused by large numbers of individual particles that are generally invisible to the naked eye, similar to smoke in air.
LWSC marketing and public relations manager Patson Phiri said in a statement yesterday that efforts have been made to purify the water but the quality remains compromised.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
