ZACL donates $5,000 to patients

CATHERINE MUMBA, Lusaka
THE Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) has donated US$5,740 towards the treatment of two patients with spinal cord injuries at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka.
ZACL communications and brands manager Sally Namutowe on Thursday presented the cheque to UTH managing director Lackson Kasonka on behalf of the corporation’s director Robinson Misitala.
Ms Namutowe said the plight of the patients came to ZACL’s attention following media reports about five-year-old Catherine Mumba, who has been in hospital for the last 10 months because her parents cannot afford to raise money to buy spinal implants from South Africa.
“We had only budgeted for little Catherine’s operation but after having talks with UTH management, we decided to also assist 17-year-old Linnet Mulenga who also has spine injuries,” she said.
