IN AN effort to promote the use of standards in the industry, the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) has pledged commitment to the implementation of ‘the produce local, buy local and use local’ campaign.
ZABS said it will provide support to the campaign as pronounced by President Lungu in his inaugural speech.
In a statement last week, ZABS head marketing and public relations Hazel Zulu said the institution is actively promoting the use of standards by all small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country.
“We believe effective use of standards in business processes as well as product development processes can help SMEs enhance the quality, safety, consistency and competitiveness of the products they produce for the market and remove technical barriers to trade.
“We are confident that standards can promote innovation, diversification and value addition to products, which will translate into sustainable economic development,” Ms Zulu said.
