Women jailed for death of suspected ‘gasser’

A WOMAN yesterday burst into tears after she was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for her role in causing the death of a man suspected of being among a clandestine group detonating gas in people’s homes. Rachel Mpundu and Dominic Musonda have been convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for the murder of Sonny Kunda, whom they dragged out of police custody where he was being kept for safety, after he was suspected of being behind gassing incidents. Mpundu, Musonda, Bright Chishala and Joseph Kaoma were jointly charged for the murder of Mr Kunda. When the matter came up before Ndola High Court judge Mary Mulanda, Kaoma and Chishala were acquitted for lack of evidence. On February 20 last year, Mpundu and Musonda, jointly and while acting with an instant justice mob, injured and burnt Mr Kunda. Evidence on record states that CLICK TO READ MORE
