Woman gang-raped, another beheaded

A THIRTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD woman of Kitwe was on Sunday abducted by eight men who gang-raped her, police have confirmed.
And police in Kitwe discovered a body of a 33-year-old woman in a guest house lying in a pool of blood, with injuries on her neck.

Copperbelt deputy commissioner of police Wamunyima Wamunyima said in an interview yesterday that in the rape incident, the woman, whose identify has been withheld, got on a bus from Luangwa Township around 05:30 hours and dropped off at a bus station in Wusakile Township when the eight men abducted her.

Mr Wamunyima said the eight unidentified men dragged her into an unfinished building where they raped her.
“When she dropped off at Wusakile bus station, a man started following her behind, and later, seven others joined him. They abducted her and raped her,” Mr Wamunyima said.
Kitwe Teaching Hospital acting public relations officer Phoebe Chileya said the rape victim was given emergency contraceptive pills and tested for HIV before being discharged on Sunday.
Police are investigating the matter, including that of the body of Vashila Mukate which was found at a named lodge near Chisokone market in Kitwe.
Mr Wamunyima said the murder of Ms Mukate could have occurred between July 14 and 16.
He said according to the Closed Circuit Television at the guest house, the deceased entered the room with an unidentified man.
And MAYENGO NYIRENDA reports from Chipata that a 26-year–old midwife at Kasama General Hospital has been gruesomely murdered by her husband in a marital dispute in Katete district.
Eastern Province commissioner of police Alex Chilufya named the deceased as Mumba Kalaba of Ibex Township in Katete.
Mr Chilufya said the deceased almost had her head detached from the body, while the other parts of the body had deep cuts.
He said the incident happened on Sunday between 12:00 and 13:00 hours, after a marital dispute.
He said police found a machete at the scene, with the deceased’s head almost severed from the body.
Mr Chilufya said police have since arrested Tobias Mwale, 33, a teacher at Omelo Mumba Primary School, for allegedly murdering his wife.
He said the suspect is in custody and will soon appear in court.
And in another crime incident, police in Ikeleng’i district in North-Western Province have launched a manhunt for two members of the same family of Chinying’a village in Chief Mwinyilamba’s area in connection with the alleged murder of a 50-year-old man accused of practising witchcraft, reports BUTTYSON KANDIMBA from Solwezi.
North-Western Province commissioner of police Auxensio Daka confirmed in an interview yesterday that the incident happened between July 9 around 20:00 hours and July 14, 2017, around 13:00 hours, and named the deceased as Geoffrey Kabembi.
Mr Daka identified the suspects as Paul Kamau and Benson Kamau.
“The matter was reported by Luwi Fanwell Mwinilombe of Chinying’a village in Chief Mwinyilamba in Ikeleng’i district that her husband, Geoffrey Kabembi, died after being beaten by the suspects and other family members, all of the same address, upon being accused of practising witchcraft,” he said.
