MINISTER of Justice Given Lubinda says people should not expect all prosecutions to end up with convictions because the court’s role is to help in reaching a fair decision.
Reacting to criticism that the State has been losing many cases through acquittals and dropping some through nolle prosequi, Mr Lubinda said it is impossible to win all cases presented before courts.
“State advocates mainly depend on investigations done by investigative wings of Government to win cases,” he said.
Mr Lubinda was speaking in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, when transiting to Rome to attend a conference for ministers of Justice.
