VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has called on the women of Western Province to participate in the August 11 general elections.
And Western Province commissioner of police Charles Lungu says he would send reinforcements to Shangombo district to arrest perpetrators of violence.
The Vice-President said on arrival at Mongu Airport here yesterday that President Lungu has extended an olive branch to women and he expects people in the province to heed the call.
Mrs Wina, who is accompanied by Minister of Community Development Emerine Kabanshi, will visit five districts, where she is expected to check on development works as well as hold meetings with respective District Disaster Management and Mitigation Units.
“The President has extended an olive branch to women and, as such, each province is expected to nominate seven female members of Parliament and 70 councillors to increase women participation,’’ she said.
