What’s in Ng’andu’s copper briefcase?

COPPER briefcase and Dr Ng’andu.

IT HAS been part of the tradition for over five decades, passed down like an heirloom from one minister of Finance to the next since independence.
The copper briefcase has been an abiding feature of the well-choreographed budget presentation ceremony, which has changed little over the years.
In fact, the word budget comes from the French word “bougette”, which means a little bag.
The briefcase weighs about three kilogrammes.
According to Ministry of Finance public relations officer Chileshe Kandeta, the only thing on the copper briefcase that has needed restoration over the years is its latch.
But, of course, it gets polished at least a week before budget day.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
