Wedson Nyirenda crowned Mozambique’s best coach

INTERIM Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda has been crowned Mozambique coach-of-the-year after guiding Ferroviaro de Beira to their maiden Premier League title.
Prior to joining the national team technical bench, Nyirenda was in charge of the Mozambican outfit.
Nyirenda joined Ferroviaro in 2015 and left in September last year with three games before the close of the season.
Ferroviaro were crowned league champions after amassing 61 points, six better than Songo.
He said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the award shows that Zambian coaches can handle the pressure of coaching in foreign leagues.
“I am grateful to God for the opportunity to coach that team [Ferroviaro] and the award in turn; this one is dedicated to all my staff that helped me bring success to the team during my time there.
“I have always said that Zambian coaches are equal to the challenges. With good research we can bring success to any team. For me, I am excited and humbled to win this award,” he said.
The former Zanaco and Zesco United trainer said the award will motivate him to continue working hard.
Nyirenda said he has been in charge of two 2018 Russia World Cup qualifiers, against Nigeria and Cameroon.
