UNZA don in theft charge

PRISCILLA CHIPULU, Lusaka
A UNIVERSITY of Zambia (UNZA) lecturer has been charged with theft by agent after he allegedly stole two students’ money meant for their accommodation at

the learning institution.
Edward Sichali, 29, is alleged to have stolen K10,000 on unknown dates but between January 1 and 31 this year in Lusaka, which was entrusted to him by Philip Banda to pay for accommodation at UNZA on behalf of Natasha Mwila, also a student.
In the second count, it is alleged that on unknown dates but between April 1 and June 31 this year in Lusaka, Sichali stole K5,500 cash from Philimone Mwansa, which was meant for the latter’s accommodation at the institution.
Meanwhile, an UNZA student has also been charged with theft by agent contrary to Section 280(b) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Mend Sankutu, 23, on unknown dates but between November 1 and November 31, 2016, in Lusaka, allegedly stole K8,000 cash which was given to him by Felix Yusiku to pay for the latter’s accommodation at the university.
