LINDA NYONDO, Lusaka
GREEN Park Hotels and Resorts, a leading Turkish hospitality conglomerate, has expressed interest to invest in Zambia’s tourism sector.
Green Park Hotels and Resorts president Yonetim Baskani described Zambia as a shining star which serious investors cannot ignore.
This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday by deputy head of mission at Zambia’s embassy in Turkey, Bwalya Nondo.
Mr Baskani said Green Park Hotels and Resorts plans to invest in Zambia to support growth of the tourism sector.
“We are convinced that Zambia presents great opportunities for investment which we want to take advantage of in a country that is renowned for peace,” Mr Baskani said.
And Zambia’s ambassador to Turkey Mirriam Mulenga encouraged the company to invest in the northern tourism circuit where infrastructure is needed.
Ms Mulenga said there is need to support development of tourism in the northern circuit where infrastructure is desperately needed to support the development of tourism in the region.
She said the circuit is endowed with an array of untapped tourism attractions.
“Investors in Zambia are assured of investment protection backed by a stable political environment and unmatched incentives,” Ms Mulenga said.
She said Zambia and Turkey are in the process of formalising an investment promotion and protection agreement as an instrument of safeguarding any investment that is brought in the country.
