Tourism circuit vital for economic growth, says Sampa

NORTHERN Tourism Circuit development is achievable and will contribute effectively towards the economic growth of the province and the country as a whole, a parliamentarian has said.
Kasama Central Member of Parliament Kelvin Sampa is ready to work with the National Tourism Board and other stakeholders to ensure natural resources benefit the people by attracting tourists to visit Northern Province.
In an interview yesterday, Mr Sampa said the area is rich in tourism sites which in turn could create wealth for the local people.
He said once completed, the upgrading of Kasama airport will result in increased tourist traffic in the provincial capital.
“So far, we have enough hotels to provide accommodation and some investors are putting up service filling stations, while another investor is also interested in building a shopping mall,” he said.
Mr Sampa said the establishment of economic ventures will create jobs for the local people and uplifting the living standards of the people.
“Government is committed to ensure that people’s living standards are improved [and] this should not be left to Government alone, but all stakeholders should be part to the economic development of Kasama and the country as a whole,” he said.
