Tough exam triggers pupils’ protest in Solwezi

GRADE 9 pupils at Kisasa Secondary School on Tuesday protested over the tough Integrated Science examination paper. The incident happened around 10:40 hours. North-Western Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Fred Mulenga said that the boggled pupils put aside their pens and picked stones to express their annoyance after the exam at about 10:40 hours. Dr Mulenga said they threw stones at a classroom block as invigilators were packing and sealing the scripts. “The pupils were bitter with the deputy head teacher, a Mrs Meru, for not helping them with the answers after they claimed that the exam was too tough for them,” Dr Mulenga said. He, however, said no property was damaged. Dr Mulenga said police, together with the district education board secretary, later addressed the learners and advised them to desist from such acts, which may result in some of them being arrested. He said the pupils later wrote the Religious Education paper without any hassle.
