Three boys drown in dam

THREE boys of Zesco township in Mbala have drowned in a man-made dam in which they were swimming.
Mbala district commissioner Kedrick Sikombe and Northern Province commissioner of police Bonny Kapeso have confirmed in separate interviews that the incident happened on Friday around 16:00 hours in Chief Tafuna’s area.
Mr Kapeso has identified the boys as Mutale Sinyangwe, 7, Stanley Kasongo, 7, and Prince Simusanga, 9, and that no foul play is suspected.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga says a 38-year-old man of Chamboli in Kitwe has been murdered while a watchman at Nkonte Night Club is unconscious following an attack by unknown people.
Ms Katanga said at Nkonte Night Club, thieves went away with a deep freezer, a television set and music system.
She said the deceased has been identified as Kelly Musonda of Chamboli township while the unconscious man has been identified as Kennedy Mwepu also of Chamboli.
“I can confirm that police have received a case of aggravated robbery and murder in which a man was killed at Nkonte club. The watchman was struck using an iron bar and was left injured,” Ms Katanga said.
She said the incident happened between Friday and Saturday.
Ms Katanga said the body of the deceased is in the Kitwe Central Hospital mortuary while the survivor is admitted at the hospital.
