‘There is need to increase fish production’

MPULUNGU Harbour Corporation Limited managing director Davies Kaluba says there is need to increase fish production on Lake Tanganyika to feed local and international markets.
Zambia’s estimated annual fish production is about 100,000 tonnes but needs between 150,000 tonnes and 180,000 tonnes to meet the growing demand.
Mr Kaluba said in an interview on the sidelines on the just-ended 24th session of the inter-governmental committee of experts organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
