Teachers’ poor quality of lessons worries PS

Pupils in class.

MINISTRY of General Education Permanent Secretary Felix Phiri has bemoaned the poor quality of lessons delivered by teachers in the country.
He said this has a negative effect on pupils’ performance.
Dr Phiri said programmes to address dysfunctional teaching methods have started.
He said some of the programmes include the revision of the school curriculum, which now requires that teachers deploy strategies which put the learners at the centre of learning as opposed to them being recipients.
He said Government has also revised the educational college curriculum to align it with the contents of the school curriculum
