POLICE in Mufulira have arrested a 42-year-old man of Kawama East for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 11-year-old daughter.
And two people on Friday died in separate road traffic accidents in Kitwe.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said yesterday that police have arrested Nelson Kaseloki for allegedly defiling the girl on September 4.
“We have picked up Kaseloki for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl. The man is alleged to have defiled the girl in his house and the victim’s mother reported the matter to police,” she said.
And a five-year-old boy died on the spot after being knocked down by a vehicle on the Kitwe-Ndola dual carriageway.
Ms Kasosa said the accident happened on Friday around 19:00 hours.
She identified the dead boy as Mike Beyani of house number 6, Wusakile township in Kitwe.
Ms Kasosa said Davies Lungu, who was driving a Toyota Corolla, allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit Mike on the sidewalk.
Mr Lungu has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
And one person died on the spot in a road traffic accident on the Kitwe-Chingola road while four others are nursing injuries at Kitwe Central Hospital (KCH).
Ms Kasosa said the unidentified man died on the spot when a Toyota Noah he was travelling in was hit into by a truck.
She said the accident happened near Ganertone around 18:00 hours and the driver of the truck sped off.
She named the injured as Oswald Habeezu, 45, of unknown address in Mufulira and Florence Kanyembo of Mufulira, both of whom sustained head injuries.
Others are Given N’gonga and Mwansa Mondingo, 35.
The four are admitted to KCH.
Ms Kasosa said police are still investigating the cause of the accident because the driver of the Toyota Noah is still unable to give a detailed report of what happened.
