‘Strengthen motor vehicle regulation’

GOVERNMENT needs to strengthen regulations in the importation of second-hand motor vehicles to boost the local automotive sector, Southern Cross Motors says.
Southern Cross Motors general manager Tony Voorhout said continued high importation of second-hand motor vehicles is negatively impacting on the investments of structured establishment.
In an interview after the launch of the Mercedes-Benz Actros on Thursday, Mr Voorhout said Government should consider regulating the age limit of vehicles being imported because some of them are unsuitable for the road.
“We have been successful over the past year due to the support of Government – as a customer and a stakeholder in the formulation of legislation that facilitates the undertaking of business in the country.
