Step on pedal, Le Roy tells Congo players

CONGO-BRAZAVILLE coach Claude Le Roy says his players need to step on the pedal to end Zambia’s dominance over the Red Devils.
Zambia and Congo clash in a 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next March.
Le Roy told the Congo Portal newspaper recently that his charges need to up their performance to beat Zambia.
He said the Chipolopolo are experienced campaigners in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Congo and Zambia top Group E with four points apiece but the former have a superior goal aggregate having netted five and conceded three.
Zambia have found the net twice and allowed one. Kenya and Guinea Bissau have a point apiece.
“Zambia is a strong side and it is not surprising they were African champions in 2012. My players should step on the pedal if we are to beat Zambia next year,” Le Roy said.
Le Roy, who guided Cameroon to the African Cup of Nations triumph in 1988, is anticipating a tough match against Zambia.
Zambia beat Congo 3-2 in a 2006 Germany World Cup qualifier in Brazzaville and 3-0 in Chililabombwe.
In the race for a slot at the 2008 Ghana Africa Cup of Nations, the teams settled for a goalless draw in Brazzaville but the Chipolopolo won 3-0 at home.
