State to ensure scribes’ protection

GOVERNMENT says it will not tolerate the harassment of journalists by politicians and their cadres ahead of the August 11 general elections.
Speaking when he featured on Luanshya’s Ngoma FM Radio yesterday, chief government spokesperson and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Chishimba Kambwili said Government will ensure journalists from both private and public media are given maximum protection in the course of carrying out their duties.
Dr Kambwili said even journalists who have been writing negative stories on the PF government have been allowed access to State House to cover press conferences by the Head of State without any harassment.
“Let us treat media personnel with the respect that they deserve. When we want development, why should you injure your brother in the quest to develop the nation,” he said.
