State, FAZ confer over use of stadiums

GOVERNMENT is in consultation with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to devise a ticketing system for National Heroes and Levy Mwanawasa Stadiums.
Minister of Youth and Sport Vincent Mwale said in Lusaka on Tuesday that the system will help both FAZ and Government monitor ticket sales during international games.
Mwale said the system will help Government strategise how best they could charge FAZ for using the stadiums.
The minister, who  was disappointed with the theft that occured at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka last weekend, said maintenance of the two stadiums is costly hence the need for every user to pay.
A total of 18 firehoses were stolen and only two have been recovered.
Mwale said National Heroes Stadium is underutilised especially by FAZ who opt to use Nkoloma Stadium for some international games.
He, however, said the national soccer governing body has reasons for opting to use Nkoloma Stadium.
