StarTimes injects $273 million in digital migration

STARTIMES Group, a Chinese company contracted to manage Zambia’s digital migration, has spent US$273 million in the first phase of the project targeting urban areas.

And StarTimes vice-president Quo Zigi says the digital television operator, which has subsidiaries in more than 30 African countries with 10 million subscribers, is in the process of building another headquarters and dubbing centre in Nairobi, Kenya, after the one in Beijing.
Ms Quo said Zambia’s digitalisation will benefit rural communities through a 10,000 Village Satellite TV project, to be implemented in 25 African countries.
