The soccer standards in our country have hit the lowest snag since independence.
We can no longer beat most teams in our region.
It is not surprising that we no longer have professionals in elite European leagues.
Our players have failed to compete with the best and they find solace playing in substandard leagues which lure the once vibrant old tired legs from elite leagues for publicity.
We need to re-invest in grassroot soccer if we want to improve. Government must take keen interest in grooming talent in all sports disciplines at grassroots level.
As far as I am concerned, the pedigree of our current crop of players have very little to offer to Mother Zambia, not even an expatriate coach can change things. Our hope lies in upcoming youngsters.
