‘Southern Province, here I come’

STEVEN MVULA, Lusaka
PRESIDENT Lungu says he will embrace everyone despite the voting pattern in last Tuesday’s election.
And President Lungu said he would like to make Southern Province his first point of call.
Mr Lungu said he learnt from President Sata not to hold grudges against anyone.
“We will equitably distribute resources. We will not look at tribe, but will look at Zambia. Southern Province, here I come,” he said
Mr Lungu was answering questions from journalists shortly after swearing in Vice-President Inonge Wina and some ministers.
The President said Zambia is bigger than any individual.
“If I had a way, my first point of call would be Southern Province. I love the people of Southern Province, I love every Zambian. As a student of President Sata, I have learnt to move on,” President Lungu said.
Mr Lungu said he will play a unifying role by embracing the people of Southern Province and all those that did not vote for him.
He said President Sata brought on board members from the opposition as a gesture of love and goodwill.
“If I punish the people of Southern Province because they didn’t vote for me, then I will be taking away from the spirit of Mr Sata which is what has brought me here,” President Lungu said.
He said he will ensure that Zambia develops equitably.
Mr Lungu said there are massive development projects going on in Southern Province and other areas that did not vote for the Patriotic Front.
