Southern Province acting PS survives car crash

BUTTYSON KANDIMBA, Solwezi
SOUTHERN Province acting permanent secretary Douglas Ngimbu and his brother, only identified as Colonel Ngimbu, on Monday escaped but with serious injuries after their vehicle overturned on the Mutanda-Chavuma road.
North-Western Province commissioner of police Eugene Sibote said in an interview that the accident happened on Monday afternoon between Mufumbwe and Kabompo.
Mr Sibote said the accident happened after Col Ngimbu lost control of the vehicle as he tried to avoid knocking down a pedestrian.
Mr Sibote said the two were travelling to Zambezi to vote in Tuesday’s presidential election.
“There was an accident which happened on Monday afternoon involving Southern Province acting PS, a Mr Ngimbu, and his brother who is a Colonel,” Mr Sibote said.
Mr Sibote said the two were initially admitted to Kabompo District Hospital but were later evacuated to University Teaching Hospital.
