THE 50 megawatts Bangweulu solar power plant project by Neon Investment of France and Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is almost complete with 80 percent works already done.
The US$60 million solar power plant project, which is co-owned by the Zambian government and the French investor, is expected to diversify Zambia’s energy sector.
“As you are aware, with the climate change, our reliance on hydro power put us at risk. The 2015 to 2016 power deficit the country experienced is fresh in our minds,” IDC chief executive officer Mateyo Kaluba said on Monday when he toured the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Zone.
Mr Kaluba said the project has created 850 jobs for both local people and expatriates working at the site http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
