Sleepwalking woman found dead in dam

CHOMBA MUSIKA, Choma
A 77-YEAR-OLD woman, who suffered from a sleepwalking disorder, has been found dead in a dam.
The body of Saviour Mweemba of Matangani village in Zimba was found in a dam hours after she was reportedly missing from her home on Thursday night.
Zimba district commissioner Elizabeth Kalaluka, who witnessed the retrieval of the body, confirmed the incident yesterday.
And KAPALA CHISUNKA reports in Lusaka that a 44-year-old system analyst at the Lusaka City Council (LCC) has been arrested by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) for alleged money laundering involving over K1,000.
DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo said in a statement yesterday that Martin Manyanga Bwalya of House No 2195, off Kazembe Road in Matero township in Lusaka has been arrested for theft by servant, fraudulent false accounting and unauthorised interference with data contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Ms Katongo said it is alleged that Mr Bwalya engaged in an act of fraudulent false accounting in his capacity as payroll administrator and inserted an account number for a known bank against a deceased employee’s name for the council purporting to show the deceased’s account received his June salary when in fact not, therefore, benefiting himself.
She said it is further alleged that the suspect interfered with data on the LCC payroll system fraudulently to suit himself without authority.
Meanwhile, the commission has in the last two days arrested more than 30 people countrywide for unlawful cultivation and trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.
On the Copperbelt, DEC has arrested and jointly charged Shadreck Chimwanga, 33, a driver of Mokambo border in Mufulira and a 15-year-old boy of the same area for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 82kg.
Also arrested on the Copperbelt is a 16-year-old boy of Mukambo border for alleged trafficking in 4kg of cannabis concealed in a school bag and Moses Kansele, 21, a peasant farmer of Kamatipa township in Kitwe for alleged trafficking in 38kgs of loose cannabis.
In Western Province, the commission arrested Chiwesa Kazika, 32, of Milumbwe area in Luampa District for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 58.44kg and Musole Kandada, 46, a peasant farmer of the same area for trafficking in 3.64kg of loose cannabis.
Meanwhile, MUBANGA NONDO, reports that police in Kasama have nabbed a 22-year-old man of Lualuo village for impersonating a Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) officer.
Northern Province deputy commissioner of police Alfred Nawa confirmed the incident, which occurred on Thursday at the central business district in Kasama.
