Letter to the Editor

Simataa Simataa needs our empathy

Dear editor,
AS THE dust settles over the selection of the general secretary of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), one individual needs our empathy – Simataa Simataa.
It is clear that Simataa was the main man behind the election of FAZ president Andrew Kamanga. He has been seemingly rejected by some sections of the executive committee.
Reasons for being vetoed are very clear: he is a disciplinarian as opposed to being vengeful as those committee members afraid of their shadows or skeletons in the cupboards think.
In all this, Simataa has maintained his calm.
What well-meaning soccer lovers need to do is to show empathy to the man who put in everything to win back his freedom after being haunted for a long time by the previous administration.
Soon, his haters will wither.
At the same time, let’s encourage those who can carry Kamanga to be focused and not be discouraged by those who neither have foresight nor hindsight.
