Siamunene ponders re-election on PF ticket

SIAMUNENE

TEDDY KUYELA, Lusaka
SINAZONGWE member of Parliament (MP) Richwell Siamunene says he is ready to retain his seat on the Patriotic Front (PF) ticket if adopted by the ruling party in the August 11 tripartite elections.
Mr Siamunene, who is also Minister of Defence, said he is happy that President Lungu has demonstrated commitment to developing all parts of Zambia without giving priority to areas where he received most votes in the January 20, 2015 presidential election.
He said in an interview in Choma yesterday that this is why he wants to work with the ruling party to enable him contribute to national development.
“I am working very well with the President and if the ruling party feels that I can still contribute to the well-being of the people of Sinazongwe, it will adopt me and I am ready to win the seat under the PF.
“And if the people feel that I have contributed development to them, then there can be no reason why they can reject me. For me, it is not about the party or symbol but what I can do to contribute to the people,” Mr Siamunene said.
He also said people in his area are happy with the development projects that the Patriotic Front (PF) administration has continued to deliver.
Mr Siamunene said he is happy that Government has delivered unprecedented development to Sinazongwe since the Patriotic Front (PF) assumed office in 2011.
He said he is ready to continue working with President Lungu to ensure continuity in the implementation of development projects.
He urged the people of Southern Province to work with the PF and President Lungu to foster development in the area.
Mr Siamunene said it is sad the region has for a long time complained of lagging in development because the people have always associated themselves with the opposition.
