SeedCo urges farmers to plant hybrid seeds

SEEDCO Zambia Limited has advised farmers to plant hybrid seeds because they are resistant to diseases and give better yields.
Board chairperson Chance Kabaghe said hybrid seeds respond better to diseases and give farmers maximum yields as opposed to open-pollinated seeds.
Mr Kabaghe said this during a virtual Seedco national field week launch recently.
“For a long time the Ministry of Agriculture, seed companies and various practitioners in the sector have emphasised that farmers plant hybrid seeds because of their yields potential,” he said.
