Sakala eulogises Kaminda

HONE SIAME & ALEX NJOVU, Kitwe
PRESS Association of Zambia president Andrew Sakala yesterday led hundreds of mourners in putting to rest veteran journalist Dickson Kaminda in Kitwe, with a message to the current crop of writers to emulate his courage and hardwork.
Mr Kaminda, who died on Wednesday last week at Kitwe Central Hospital after a liver problem, was put to rest at Kitwe’s Chingola Road Cemetery.
Mr Sakala said Mr Kaminda has left a huge challenge to young journalists to put the interest of the country first through objective reporting on national issues.
Mr Kaminda, 66, who once served as chief reporter at Zambia Daily Mail’s Kitwe office, leaves behind a wife and seven children and several grandchildren.
And Zambia’s ambassador to Egypt Ali Simwinga has described Mr Kaminda as a courageous journalist who contributed positively to the development of the media in Zambia.
