Lusaka: TWO Zambia Army soldiers, a Zambia Air Force (ZAF) civilian worker, and a witchdoctor have been sentenced to death for taking part in a 2016 string of grisly ritual murders involving seven Lusaka residents.
Handing down judgment yesterday, Lusaka High Court judge Florence Lengalenga said the murder case against the four had been proved beyond reasonable doubt.
“I find that the prosecution has proved the case against all the four beyond reasonable doubt. I convict them accordingly and sentence them to the mandatory death sentence,” Judge Lengalenga ruled in an over four-hour verdict.
The convicts are Lucky Siame, a soldier; Elvis Nyanga, also a soldier; Lewis Bwalya, a witchdoctor; and Christopher Kasapo, a ZAF office assistant.
Siame and the three others were facing seven counts of murder involving victims in George, Zingalume and Lilanda townships when the country experienced several bizarre deaths.
