NKANA yesterday recorded their first victory of the season after edging Confederation Cup representatives Red Arrows in a Super League Week Three match at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe. It was Arrows’ first game in the local league having missed Week One and Two due to their commitment in the Confederation Cup, where they eliminated eSwatini side Young Buffaloes 2-1 on aggregate. Zimbabwean defender Gilroy Chimwemwe’s 58th minute strike was all Nkana needed to reap full points.
Nkana started the 2021/2022 campaign with a 3-2 loss to Nkwazi on home turf on September 12. While Nkana coach Beston Chabeshi was delighted with the result, his Arrows counterpart, Chisi Mbewe, described the loss as painful. “We are happy as the technical staff that our boys played their lungs out to win.
