THE connection of remotely located public schools to the national grid has helped improve academic performance among some pupils in Mpika, District Commissioner Sampa Muswema has said.Speaking when Rural Electrification Authority (REA) officials paid a courtesy call on him on Wednesday, Mr Muswema described the provision of electricity to some schools located in the remote parts of the district as refreshing.He said some of the beneficiary schools are located in Mukungube area. “Children are now studying at night and they also have access to the internet,” Mr Muswema said.Mr Muswema appealed to REA to expeditiously deal with the backlog of applications by people who have applied for electricity connection at a subsidised rate.He said electricity connections in some parts of Mpika have delayed and that some people who CLICK TO READ MORE
