PS explains diversion of funds

MINISTRY of Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary David Shamulenge has explained that money for tsetse fly aerial spraying was diverted because by the time it was received weather conditions were unsuitable for the activity.

Dr Shamulenge said this before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday in explaining the misapplication of over K2.9 million for the implementation of surveillance tsetse fly aerial spraying activities.
The money was instead spent on activities such as payment of allowances to officers for the 2017 budget preparation, telephone and electricity units, motor vehicle mechanical services and tyres.
