Proflight Zambia, RwandAir seal codeshare agreement

PROFLIGHT Zambia and RwandAir have signed a codeshare agreement on the Lusaka-Johannesburg route to enhance convenience for business travellers.
Proflight Zambia director of governance and industry affairs Philip Lemba said the agreement is Proflight’s first codeshare, and is distinct from existing agreement it has in place with other airlines.
“We are now offering direct service from Lusaka to Johannesburg. This flight also connects into our domestic network of destinations thereby providing convenience and values for Zambia passengers,” Captain Lemba said.
The flights start operations on March 27 and will be operated three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays leaving Lusaka at 21:50 hours and arriving in the South African commercial capital at 23:50 hours.
Capt. Lemba said the flight returns from Johannesburg at 07:15 hours and arrives in Lusaka at 09:15 hours by RwandAir’s plane.
He said the schedule is convenient for business travellers among others and will enable Proflight Zambia’s passengers to easily connect to and from its network and the code share flights.
Capt. Lemba said as a way of encouraging passengers, the airline is offering special introductory fares on the Lusaka-Johannesburg route from US$180 one-way including taxes.
“There are also discounted fares available between Lubumbashi and Johannesburg and Ndola and Johannesburg via Lusaka using Proflight and RwandAir’s flights,” he said.
Earlier, RwandAir general manager commercial Gobena Mikael said, “We highly value our new code share partnership with Proflight and are thrilled to see African carriers creating partnerships, synergy and affordability for the benefit of the travelling public.”
In the second phase, the two airlines will conclude an Interline Electronic Ticketing agreement that will allow RwandAir’s customers to fly on Proflight Zambia’s network with a single ticket and visa-a-visa to Kigali and beyond on a single ticket.
