Proflight flys into Kafue National Park

IN A bid to promote and encourage especially local tourism, Proflight Zambia intends to introduce a scheduled flight to the Kafue National Park next month.
The local courier, whose current domestic routes include Kasama, Mfuwe, Solwezi, Livingstone, Lusaka, Ndola, and Lower Zambezi, plans to expand further this year, with new regional and domestic routes on card.
In an interview recently, Proflight Zambia sales and marketing official Zamiwe Nyembe said this will be the first time the airline will be flying into the park.
Ms Nyembe said the initiative will enhance domestic and international tourism to the area, which will in turn create jobs and boost economic growth in the country.
“We have worked with all the tour operators in the Kafue National Park, including Mukambi Safaris, to come up with a schedule. Therefore, effective next month, we are going to be flying three times a week into the Kafue National Park to promote and boost domestic tourism. We hope that the local people are going to support this move,” she said.
Meanwhile, Proflight Zambia plans to carry over 150,000 passengers this year compared to 130,000 last year.
“Proflight grew from one aircraft and less than five employees in 1991 to an airline with eight scheduled aircraft and over 200 employees. Last year, we did over 700 schedule flights a month and we carried over 130,000 passengers and this year, we aim to carry about 150,000 passengers. There are plans to introduce a domestic route between Lusaka and Kitwe,” Ms Nyembe said.
The Lusaka and Kitwe route will help ease the way of doing business for customers in Chililabombwe, Mufulira and Kitwe towns, among the other cities in the country.
