Private teachers’ colleges commended

ZAMBIA Open University vice-chancellor Mutale Musonda has urged private teacher training colleges to produce well-trained teachers to enhance quality education.
Professor Musonda said Zambia Open University is happy that many private teacher training colleges have been established to complement Government in training teachers and contribute to the provision of quality education in the country.
“It is our duty and responsibility as the Zambia Open University to ensure that quality teacher training is provided to the trainees at colleges affiliated to us,” Prof Musonda said.
Prof. Musonda said this on Friday during the 3rd Paglory College of Education graduation ceremony, where 348 teachers graduated after training in early childhood education.
Prof Musonda said Zambia Open University is proud to have partnered with Paglory College of Education in the training of teachers in early childhood education.
Prof Musonda commended Paglory College of Education for the strides the training institution has made over the years in training teachers adding that this has helped mitigate of the shortage of teachers in the country.
He also urged Paglory College of Education management to remain focused and ensure they produce quality teachers.
College president Egidio Machuta said the training institution is committed to providing quality tertiary education which is also Christian- centered.
Dr Machuta said Paglory College of Education is glad to partner with Government in provision of quality education in the country.
“The college is a training institution founded on Christian principles and we have made steady progress in expansion of its training programme,” Dr Machuta said.
Dr Machuta also said Paglory College of Education will establish a university in Kabwe and plans have reached an advanced stage.
