Prioritise protection of girl-child, Lungu advises Africa

LUNGU

EMELDA MWITWA, New York
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has urged African governments to prioritise investment in the girl-child because it is a smart choice for the health and prosperity of all nations.
The President (pictured) said addressing child marriage in Africa will not only change the lives of millions of girls but will also provide a window of opportunity for harnessing Africa’s demographic dividend through investment in young people.
He said this on Wednesday when he chaired a high-level side meeting on ‘Ending child, early and forced marriage’ at the 73rd United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
The head of State said young people, especially girls, should be allowed to enjoy the right and freedom to define their lives, freedom from abuse and pursue their education.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
