Presidential candidates speak out on mines

MINING in Zambia history and future indicates that on a small scale, the mining activities by the natives were widespread across the Copperbelt region and other places

PRISCILLA MWILA, Lusaka
WITH seven days left before the general election, Third Liberation Movement president Enoch Tonga’s first assignment if elected will be to arrest those who sold Zambia’s mines and left citizens in poverty.
Mr Tonga says citizens are suffering because some selfish people privatised mining firms.
He said this on Tuesday evening during a presidential debate hosted by Diamond Television.
Eight candidates were given an opportunity to share their vision for the country if elected.
