PRESIDENT Lungu has called on leaders to be bold and practical on gender issues as the core agenda for national development.
The President has also directed the Ministry of Gender, and the Ministry of National Development Planning to come up with a Cabinet memorandum within 14 days on gender responsive planning and budgeting before Cabinet for consideration to make gender an integral part of planning and budgeting process.
“We should not be shy to acknowledge our shortcomings but rather learn and take an informed position. Even our media houses will be bold enough to report to the nation and make communities have deep conversations and reflections,” he said.
The President was speaking yesterday in a speech read for him by Minister of Defence Richwell Siamunene during a gender equality leadership workshop for cabinet, deputy and provincial ministers.
