‘Prepare for climate change’

VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has cautioned the people of Western Province to be wary of the effects of climate change.
According to Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) news monitored yesterday, Mrs Wina said there is need for enhanced preparations against the negative effects of climate change.
The Vice-President said being well prepared will help reduce dependence on relief food from Government.
Mrs Wina said this year alone, Government has had to share funds meant for power, construction of schools and hospital to procure relief food.
And Mrs Wina has urged people of Western Province to ensure that they turn up in numbers to acquire national registration cards (NRC).
She said mobile national registration exercise that commences tomorrow in Western Province will also enable people that have lost their NRCs to replace them.
Mrs Wina was speaking on arrival at Mongu airport.
And Western Province minister Poniso Njeulu said the province has already received 3,000 metric tonnes of relief maize.
Mr Njeulu, however, complained that many contractors who have been given contracts in new districts have not yet moved on sites. ZNBC
